MAT runs advocacy project on COVID-19 preparedness for dispensaries

[Dar es Salaam] The Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) in collaboration with Gofin Ventures LTD, from 21st March 2020 to 27th March 2020, run an advocacy and capacity building project in public and private dispensaries in Tanzania on preparedness for the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The project, funded by CRBD Bank, involved advocacy and capacity building for primary healthcare workers in public dispensaries and health centers in two districts of Dar es Salaam region; on how to prevent the spread of coronavirus and how to handle and manage COVID-19 patients.

The districts involved were Temeke and Kinondoni. A total of 41 primary level health facilities were reached; 25 from Temeke and 16 from Kinondoni.

More than 320 primary healthcare workers were reached during this project. These were Clinical Officers, Medical Attendants, Medical laboratory technicians, and Nurses. MAT carried out a small survey to 102 health workers about corona awareness preparedness.
