The Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) was established on 1965 after the union of The Medical Association of Tanganyika and The Medical Association of Asia. It attained its full registration under the ministry of home affairs and given registration number SO 4102 with the aim of safeguarding healthcare delivery and medical profession in Tanzania.
MAT is the leading and learning professional body improving quality of healthcare in Tanzania through attention to ethical, quality, evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
MAT is organising the 1st Doctors Marathon aiming to promote healthier lifestyle among citizens through physical exercises, Encourage fellow citizens to secure healthcare insurance and fundraise for emergence kits in selected 3 district hospitals in Katavi, Lindi and Simiyu regions.
